I have a B model that i'm about to start putting back together after de-rusting the insides.

Upon disassembly, i noticed that the oven thermostat had been capped off, presumably because it wasn't working.. now i don't know for sure if it's busted, but before i go to all the trouble of hooking it up, i was thinking one of you might have an extra that you could spare!

A long shot, i know, but does anyone have a stove they were using for parts with a thermostat in it?

I'm not sure, but a C model thermostat would probably work, as the underlying mechanism is the same.

Check ebay for the uncertain stoveman. That's Sam, the old stoveman who has given so much of his time and good advice to this board. He offers thermostat repairs. See under the 'buy it now' list. Good luck, Erin

I know about him, but i don't know if mine is even broken, and he doesn't do the thermostat repairs i believe.. He sends them out to have someone else do them, and the service is like $300 IIRC.

So i'd rather have a 'believed good' one for a few bucks (if someone will sell) than spending a lot of cash to have one rebuilt.

I heard that! It's true, I send my thermostats to be rebuilt by the most renownd company in North America. You know, not just any ********** can rebuild a thermostat. If you're going to do it, do it right! Or go ahead and subject your family to some piece of junk of unknown quality and hope it doesn't blow the siding off the house. Enough said.

The company Sam uses doesn't accept units from anyone who is not a certified gas appliance repairman. Sam is, and he doesn't jack up the repair price like everyone else, most of whom charge at least $100.00 more than he does (many of them charge way more than that), all for doing nothing but handling a box.

I've referred people to Sam who needed t-stat repairs, and NO ONE has had any complaints with his service, or that of the rebuilder (who, by the way, is, at last check, the only company in the country still doing these kinds of rebuilds).

With an eBay t-stat, you have no idea if it will work after you get it installed AND there's no guarantee that IF it does, that it will last long at all.

I can think of a lot better ways to waste my money than going with what I KNOW will work...
